Approached by officials at McFarlane Toys about having his likeness used in the company’s NHL Legends line, Bower agreed. But he had one condition.”

NHL Legends Series 6 Action Figure Case. McFarlane Toys continues presenting the superstars of the NHL. This case of 12 individually packaged Action Figures includes: Gordie Howe (Red Wings), Cam Neely (Bruins), Wayne Gretzky 8 (Rangers), and Johnny Bower (Maple Leafs). (Subject to change.) NOTE: THIS ASSORTED CASE OF 12 FIGURES IS NOT GUARANTEED TO CONTAIN ALL PLAYERS! It is unknown which figures will come as the variant.

After 1,487 NHL games, “The Great One” called it a career on April 18th, 1999 and played his final game with the New York Rangers against the Pittsburgh Penguins. After the game ended, Gretzky circled on the ice, removing one glove and waving farewell to the appreciative crowd. Gretzky remains the leading scorer in NHL history, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999.

You don’t get a nickname like “Mr. Hockey” by accident. It’s said that a “Gordie Howe Hat Trick” consisted of a goal, an assist, and a fight in the same game. Howe played in Hartford, Houston and Omaha, but his legacy was built in the Motor City, during 25 brilliant seasons with the Red Wings (and one game with the Vipers). Howe ranks second all-time on the NHL goals-scored list, and is one of only two players to eclipse the 800-goal plateau. Howe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972.

Johnny Bower became a household name in the NHL, but winning four Stanley Cups made him a legend in Toronto. The hard-nosed Bower had to be – playing his career without a mask! He became the oldest goalie to ever appear in a Stanley Cup Finals game, playing in 1969 at the age of 44. Johnny was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1976.

Cam Neely is known in Vancouver as “the one that got away”, Neely left the Canucks after three seasons in a deal that sent him to Boston. He became a Bruins mainstay, delivering several tremendous seasons and establishing himself as the prototypical “power forward” in the NHL. Knee injuries and a degenerative hip condition limited Neely’s career to just 13 seasons, but his goals-per-game average remains one of the ten best in the history of the NHL. Neely was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005.

“EDMONTON – He’s the subject of hundreds of Internet discussion groups that compare him to Jesus Christ, ask for his hand in marriage or seek to know him better in language as subtle as spiked heels and a leather bustier.

There are more than 1,700 memorabilia items – pictures, pucks, posters – bearing his image on EBay alone.

…As hockey’s first superstar of the cyber age, Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Sidney Crosby – who plays his first NHL games in Western Canada this week – lives in a world where every trivial scrap and moment of his life is deemed worthy of worldwide distribution.”
