Gamed Used Universe is currently auctioning an authentic 1986 John Elway game used Broncos jersey. The auction ends in two weeks and there are currently 10 bids with the top being at $5707.00.
The description from the site includes the following:
“When he played at Stanford and finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1982, few had any doubt that John Elway had the potential to become a star in the NFL. While some great talents never do make it big on a professional level, sixteen years after being drafted in 1983 Elway retired from football with a career that legends are made of. A nine-time Pro Bowler, Elway threw for over 51,000 yards while leading the Broncos to five Super Bowl appearances. Fittingly, in his last two years in the league, Elway led the Denver Broncos to world championships in 1997 and 1998. It was a storybook ending to a storybook career.
We are aware that many avid Elway collectors have waited patiently for an Elway jersey they could feel comfortable including as a cherished part of their collection. Fortunately, the waiting is over. Just as the amazing athlete that wore it, the use and provenance of this incredible white nylon mesh garment with hand-warmer pocket and team repair on the right chest places it among the elite game used football jerseys in the hobby.
Along with a letter of authenticity from the Denver Broncos equipment manager, this jersey was also evaluated by Patrick Scoggin, the Director of Endzone Sports Charities and one of the industries foremost authorities on Broncos memorabilia.”
